Birkirkara Girls Under-16's completed their first round commitments with a superb performance when they trounced Tarxien Rainbows with a very comfortable 6-0.

With the score proving to be the right story of the match, Birkirkara were superiort for all the fifty minutes and after scoring four goals in the first half, they added another two to round off an excellent performance.

The First Half

Birkirkara, with all guns blazzing to re-pay for their last defeat, went out strongly and they treatened first on the second minute as Mariah Sciberras had a cross-shot ending wide following well-served by Tara Attard.

Tarxien replied on the sixth minute as in a fast build-up, Kim Borg saw her effort ending wide.

With the Rainbows trying to get out of their own half, Birkirkara punished them with a fast break-away. Alishia Sultana made an excellent solo run and had her cross-shot blocked. From the rebound, Tara Attard was in an ideal position to hit home and score her first goal in the Under-16's League.

The Stripes doubled their lead on the ninth minute. A second-post corner by Mariah Sciberras saw Tara Attard heading well before being deflected by the Rainbows defender in her own net for an unfortunate own goal.

Tarxien failed to settle and Birkirkara punished them for their lack of concentration as on the tenth minute, they made them three. Raina Giusti produced a brilliant run on the left wing to drift inside the box and easily deposit the ball into the net.

Raina Giusti treatened for her second personal goal on the twelfth minute when she had a powerful shot deflected into a corner kick.

Tarxien, shocked by the three goals, made their reaction on the seventeeth minute with a shot which was saved in two attempts by goalkeeper Jennifer Galea.

Birkirkara continued to increase the Rainbows' woes on the twenty-first minute when they added their fourth goal. Raina Giust served Mariah Sciberras and the Birkirkara striker hit past goalkeeper Mandy Caruana.

The end of the first half found Birkirkara comfortably enjoying a four goal lead as the score read 4-0 at the end of the twenty-five minutes.

The Second Half

Birkirkara continued where they left in the first half as they were quick to regain their edge over their opponents. Just one minute in the second half, Raina Giusti had a free-kick from distance ending wide.

What Raina was unlucky not to do, Alishia re-paid by adding Birkirkara's fifth goal on the half hour mark as she made an excellent run concluded brilliantly with a powerful shot that hit past the goalkeeper.

From five quickly became six as two minutes later, Raina Giusti added her second personal goal. Mariah Sciberras served Raina who had a powerful low-drive hitting past the help-less goalkeeeper.

Ten minutes from time, Tara Attard had a deflected free-kick ending into a corner kick.

Two minutes later, Tara Attard was in action once again as the hard-working player had a diagonal shot scratching the post.

Five minutes from time, Jennifer Galea performed an excellent save to turn a scoring attempts into a corner kick.

Substitute Sarah Urpani had a good scoring opportunity three minutes from time had a powerful drive saved by goalkeeper Mandy Caruana.

The full time whistle found Birkirkara bouncing back with an incredible 6-0 victory to end the first round commitments on an excellent note.
