Birkirkara Under-19's Team had their excellent run of eleven straight victories brought to an end on Thursday evening when Pieta Hotspurs emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 score.

With the Stripes set to win their first ever Youths League Section A title, Pieta had different ideas, as they left the Stripes hoping for better luck in their next fixture. Birkirkara are still enjoying a ten-point lead over Hibernians and eleven over Valletta, but the latter have a game in hand.

The Stripes gave another determined display, but with luck not in their favour, and goal scoring chances not being converted into goals, the first half ended in a goal-less draw. In the second half, they remained superior as Pieta opted to defend deep in their own half. Then, against the run of play, a defensive blunder by the Stripes gifted Pieta the lead, and they held strong to beat the Stripes.

Birkirkara will be involved in the next on Thursday against St. Andrew's FC. If Birkirkara win their match and Valletta fail to take maximum points from their delicate encounter against Hibernians, Birkirkara will be mathematically declared Champions of the Youths League Section A.
