Women's Team aim to bounce back

by Ayrton Galea - 4th March 2014

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be seeking to get back on track this evening when they take on Pembroke Athletha FC.

So far, these two teams met three times, twice in the BOV Women's First Division League and once in the Women's Knockout. In the league, Birkirkara registered identical 3-0 victories in both rounds, while they emerged as winners with a comfortable 6-0 score in the Knockout.

Birkirkara's winning streak was halted by the brilliant performance of Mgarr United who managed to inflict the first defeat in eight matches for the Stripes. This defeat denied Birkirkara the joint leadership, as Hibernians defeated Pembroke and regained sole leadership of the BOV Women's First Division League.

On the other hand, despite coming from a trouncing 8-0 defeat at the hands of Hibernians, Pembroke showed signs of improvement in their last outing and they will be desperate to avoid another big defeat. Their hopes of avoiding the relegation were boosted by a 4-3 victory over Raiders which put them one point ahead of the same Raiders.

The match will be played at the Luxol Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
