Women's Team all out to maintain title challenge

by Ayrton Galea - 21st April 2014

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be seeking to keep their title hopes alive, and they will be all out to take the three points from the challenging match against Mgarr, to guarantee themselves a title decider this Friday.

The Stripes' second-round loss against Mgarr is certainly clear on their minds, and tonight's game is a psychological test for the Birkirkara players on how much they can handle the pressure at this crucial stage. So far, they did an excellent job, as in the two matches against Hibernians that were considered as do-or-die, they left with flying colours.

Trashing Hibernians with a 5-0 score left many impressed with Birkirkara's outstanding display. They went on to defeat Gozo thanks to a goal in each half to register their fifth straight win.

The Stripes have so far conceded just nine goals, and they are presently with the best defensive record in the league.

Defender Stephania Farrugia has been playing an excellent role in the heart of Birkirkara's defence, and she shared her views about this match. “I must say, I am really eager to play tonight's match. These last weeks of trainings had the focus on possession and set pieces. Physically we are ready, and we are well prepared for everything. These are the type of matches that make adrenaline pump through your veins.”

“I can't really explain how much I'm looking forward for this match. We can certainly win this match and the reason for this statement is simple - We are the best. We are Birkirkara.”

The match will be played at the Mgarr Grounds and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

We would like to urge all the Birkirkara supporters to come to the stadium and support the Women's Team in their journey towards the third consecutive title.

Come on the Stripes!
