Women's Team to face Mgarr United in Knockout Semi-Final

by Ayrton Galea - 12th May 2014

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be involved in the Women's Knockout Semi-Final this evening when they face Mgarr United.

Birkirkara are the holders of the Knockout Trophy and they are hopeful of retaining the second most prestigious honour in Women's Football.

Birkirkara had an excellent season and they managed to end their BOV Women's First Division League commitments on the top of the table joined with Hibernians, but the latter won the league in the decider, thanks to a controversial penalty shoot-out. The will be seeking to clinch the 12th Knockout in their history.

Mgarr had a very positive league campaign, including a 2-1 victory over Birkirkara. The Greens wrote a new page in their history, as they ended in the third place in the league for the first time. Mgarr has never won any silverware and they will be doing their utmost to advance to the final.

The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:00.

We would like to urge all the Birkirkara supporters to come to the stadium and support the Women's team.

Come on the Stripes!
