Birkirkara FC Women's Team defeated Pembroke Athleta FC in a friendly match played at the Pembroke Athleta Grounds yesterday evening, to the tune of 6-0.

In the first friendly match for the Women's Team, Birkirkara scored five goals in the second half to register a comfortable 6-0 victory, after finishing the first half leading by Rodianne Zerafa's solitary goal after just seven minutes.

Birkirkara's line-up featured Tara Attard who is currently on trial with our Club from Kirkop United, and Rodianne Zerafa who is on trial from Raiders FC. Tara gave a very good performance in the heart of the Birkirkara's defence, while Zerafa netted two goals.

The First Half

Birkirkara took the lead on the seventh minute, when Chantal Fenech served Rodianne Zerafa who fired a powerful drive from distance, which surprised Pembroke's goalkeeper, Rosemarie Baldaccinho.

Mid-way through the first half, Birkirkara were unlucky not to double the lead when off a corner kick taken by Raina Giusti, Stephania Farrugia saw her powerful header hitting against the upright.

The end of the first half saw Birkirkara leading by one thanks to Rodianne Zerafa's goal.

The Second Half

Birkirkara doubled the lead three minutes into the second half thanks to Raina Giusti who had an excellent strike from outside the box hitting hard past the Pembroke goalkeeper.

Two became three just two minutes later. Raina Giusti was in action once again when she penetrated down the right wing and raced forward inside the box before serving Rodianne Zerafa who had a routine task of slotting home from close range.

The fourth goal arrived on the fifty-second minute when Giusti scored her second goal of the day when she managed to find space inside the box and hit a low strike which beat the Pembroke goalkeeper for the fourth time.

Four became five ten minutes into the second half. Giusti was creating countless problems to the Pembroke's defence and delivered a brilliant cross in the box which saw Kim Parnis hitting a powerful header to put Birkirkara five up.
