Stripes to face Balzan in 4th match of the league

by Ayrton Galea - 13th September 2014

Birkirkara FC will be seeking to build on the brilliant start to the BOV Premier League after clinching maximum points in the first three matches, but this evening they will face a difficult task when they take on the strengthened side of Balzan FC.

Birkirkara's signings in the Summer Transfer Market seem to be the key to success so far, as the foreign players roped in have all left their mark.

However, it was not only the Stripes who got it right in the Summer Transfer Market. Balzan also did their homework well as their latest additions improved the quality of the team and today's match could turn out to be a tricky affair for joint-leaders, Birkirkara.

Birkirkara had a positive start by beating newly-promoted sides Pieta Hotspurs and Zebbug Rangers with 2-1 and 4-0 results, but in their last match they had to sweat till the last minutes to score a dramatic goal to beat Naxxar Lions 1-0..

On the other hand, Balzan has so far been one of the most compact sides in the BOV Premier League. They are unbeaten after three matches having won two games and drawing once. After a 4-2 victory against Zebbug Rangers, they held Naxxar Lions 1-1, before beating Qormi 2-1.

Birkirkara FC has continued to strengthen its squad by acquiring the services of the Ukranian striker, Vyacheslav Shevchenko, who is available for selection for today's match.

The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 18:15.

Come on the Stripes!
