Stripes to face Qormi

by Ayrton Galea - 19th December 2014

Birkirkara FC will be hoping to return to winning ways this Sunday afternoon, when in a tricky fixture of the BOV Premier League they face an in-form side of Qormi FC.

Birkirkara ‘s inconsistent Premier League campaign had another twist last Sunday, hen they dropped another two important points, in a goal-less draw against Balzan.

Following this draw, which was the first one of the league for the Stripes, they climbed to the second place, joining Valletta FC with twenty-eighth points. However, they are now fifteen points behind leaders Hibernians.

On the other hand, Qormi FC are occupying the ninth place and they are searching for the first win in six weeks as their last win goes back to the 1-0 victory over Tarxien Rainbows on the 25 October 2014. In the previous six matches, Qormi enjoyed a good run of three consecutive draws, before being heavily defeated by Hibernians. They recovered with a 1-1 draw against Balzan but they lost 3-1 against Sliema Wanderers in their last match.

Birkirkara will be unable to field their best formation, as the midfield duo of Ryan Scicluna and Paul Fenech are suspended. Scicluna was sent off in the last match against Balzan while Fenech collected his fourth yellow card in the same match.

In the first-round match, Birkirkara scored two late goals thanks to Ryan Camenzuli and Rafael Ledesma for a 2-0 win.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 14:00

Come on the Stripes!
