Women's Team in a direct clash against Hibernians

by Ayrton Galea - 7th October 2015

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be seeking to take early sole leadership in the BOV Women's First Division League when this evening, in the much awaited match, they will take on the league champions Hibernians FC.

Two weeks after losing the BOV Women's Super Cup to the same Hibernians, the Stripes are in search of delivering the correct statement of their potential and they will be keen on building on the league's opening fixture victory against Pembroke Athleta with a 1-0 score.

The narrow score suggests that it was a balanced match with few opportunities but the Stripes walked out of the Luxol Stadium blaming their luck for not registering a bigger score after they hit the crossbar twice and had an attempt cleared off the goal-line besides a number of good opportunities.

On the other hand, Hibernians are already enjoying momentum, as following clinching the BOV Women's Super Cup, they started defending their title with a 3-1 victory over Raiders. They built a comfortable three-goal lead with Raiders only managing to pull a consolation goal back.

With Mgarr and Raiders sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw yesterday evening, a win today would mean sole leadership as so far no team has managed to win maximum points in both matches.

The match will be played at the Charles Abela Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

We would like to encourage you to come and support the Women's Team.

Come on the Stripes!
