Women's Team seek to return to winning ways

by Ayrton Galea - 27th January 2016

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be seeking to return to winning ways in the BOV Women's First Division League, when this evening they face bottom-placed Pembroke Athleta FC.

The Stripes threw away their one-goal lead in their last match against Mgarr United and they had to settle for a 1-1 draw. A result that meant that winning all their matches would not even enough to win the league, as Hibernians surged eighth points clear with two direct clashes to go. The draw against Mgarr came after the harsh 3-0 defeat against the same Hibernians.

On the other hand, Pembroke are anchored at the bottom of the table with one point from ten matches. They gained their only point in the 1-1 draw against Raiders in the beginning of November. They are coming from six consecutive defeats, with the last one being against Hibernians, who trounced them with a score of 7-0.

In the first-round match, Birkirkara registered a narrow 1-0 victory but in the second-round, the Stripes were superior and they defeated Pembroke Athleta with a 4-0 score.

The match will be played at the Mgarr Grounds and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
