Women's Team finish season on a positive note

Birkirkara FC Women's Team put down the curtain on the 2015-2016 season in style, when thanks to a very satisfactory performance, they defeated Mgarr United with a comfortable 3-0 score thanks to a goal each by Kim Parnis, Kelly Agius Pace and Gabriella Zahra.

It was a very positive performance that saw the Stripes ending the season in style, rounded by three brilliant goals thanks to a wonderful first-time volley by Kim Parnis, a brilliant lob by Kelly Agius Pace and a stunning direct free-kick by Gabriella Zahra.

The Stripes surged ahead on the twenty-third minute. A short clearance landed at the feet of Kim Parnis who didn't think twice before hitting a wonderful first-time volley from outside the box that surprised goalkeeper Rachel Borg to put her team one goal up.

Birkirkara remained in control, and they doubled the lead on the thirty-seventh minute. Kelly Agius Pace's persisting pressing saw her stealing the box inside the box and the Birkirkara forward showed great skills to lob to ball over the Mgarr goalkeeper.

The Stripes could have made three just before half-time but Kim Parnis' shot from inside the box was cleared just inches away from the goal-line as the score remained unchanged till the end of the first half.

The second-half proved to be more balance, but the Stripes remained with an edge over their opponents. They put the three points beyond any doubt nineteen minutes from time when Gabriella Zahra made the lead three thanks to a stunning direct free-kick that saw her well-curling strike beat goalkeeper Borg.

Birkirkara finished the league campaign with fourty-three points from twenty matches. They won fourteen matches, drew once and lost five matches while they scored fifty-five goals and conceded nineteen goals.
