Friendly Match: Birkirkara 2-2 Hibernians

Birkirkara FC and Hibernians FC shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in a friendly match played at the Luxol Stadium, in the last preparations before next week's first leg of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. Predrag Jovic and Cain Attard were the goal-scorers for the Stripes.

Birkirkara surged ahead on the twenty-eighth minute. Srdjan Dimitrov delivered an inch-perfect first-post corner kick that saw the towering defender Predrag Jovic first on the ball to hit a bullet-header past goalkeeper Andrew Hogg.

For the start of the second half, Shaun Bajada, who is on trial with our Club, replaced Christian Bubalovic, Matteo Desira Buttigieg replaced Vito Plut while Edward Herrera replaced Ryan Camenzuli.

Hibernians equalised four minutes inside the second half. In break-away, Bjorn Kristensen did fine work on the right channel before delivering an accurate cross to Juan Manuel Verea who hit a fine first-time from inside the box past goalkeeper Kopric to make the score level.

The Paolites turned the score in their favour two minutes later. The combination of Kristensen and Verea was evident once again as they exchanged one-two passes before Kristensen hit a wonderful drive from outside the box that gave Kopric no chance.

Birkirkara levelled the score ten minutes from time. Substitute Joseph Willy produced a terrific run that saw him drifting inside the box before a cutting a pass to Cain Attard who hit a powerful drive past goalkeeper Hogg.
