Girls Under-17's Team beat Fgura United

Birkirkara FC Girls Under-17's Team returned to winning ways this morning when with four goals in each half, they proved to be too strong for opponents Fgura United FC and registered a comfortable 8-0 victory.

Thirteen-year old Emma Bonnici scored her first goal with our Club while up-and-coming defender Nicole Zammit scored her first brace. Sharone Spagnol made her debut after she was included as a substitute after joining them team on loan from Hibernians while goalkeeper Britney Debono registered her first clean sheet this season.

Team's top scorer Veronique Mifsud and Samantha Zarb scored two goals each while the other goal was scored by the team's captain Sarah Urpani.

The First Half

Birkirkara surged ahead after five minutes when Nicole Zamit hit a superb shot from the half-way line and they doubled the score on the twenty-fourth minute when Veronique Mifsud hit home with a typical long distance shot.

Mifsud was in action again in the following two goals when first, her shot was blocked by the goalkeeper but from the rebound, Sarah Urpani made no mistake with a low shot. Then playmaker Mifsud made them four with a fine curling shot.

The Second Half

Birkirkara made them five seven minutes inside the second half thanks to the rapid winger Samantha Zarb who did a fine run before her well-placed shot hit past the goalkeeper and three minutes later, they made them six thanks to a wonderful shot from inside the box by Emma Bonnici.

Samantha Zarb grabbed her second goal of the day when her long-distance strike surprised the goalkeeper while Nicole Zammit scored the eighth and final goal with another splendid long-distance strike as her direct free-kick hit past the goalkeeper.
