'We need new motivation' - Mr. Jaros

by Ayrton Galea - 10th December 2016

Newly-appointed Senior Team Coach Mr. Nikola Jaros believes that the team requires a new sense of motivation and this all about getting the team back to the right track as the Croatian Coach spoke for the first time since his new position with our Club.

A series of poor results in the last weeks, including an early exit from the FA Trophy, resulted in the Club to part ways with Coach Drazen Besek and quickly after, Nikola Jaros was confirmed for the upcoming eighteen months.

We have spoke to the newly-appointed coach and he started by explaining his decision to explain his new role with this Club, “I accepted this position, after giving it a lot of thought and after speaking with my family and of course with Mr. Besek. To be honest it is not easy to step into his shoes, but I see this as an opportunity to take a new step in my coaching career.

This is my first time as a first team Coach. At first I was surprised but at the same time, I was flattered to be offered this position by the Club. After 18 years as an assistant coach to Mr. Besek, I have the experience and knowledge to be a first team Coach.”

The Stripes have only one match in the last six matches and the new Coach talks about the team situation, “Right now the team is in a difficult position and this is a challenging situation for the club and so also for me. A challenge I will take up with the team, the staff and with the supporters.”

He added, “We need to install a new sense of motivation, because our recent results show that we require this. I think the team understands this and the club as well. So together we must look forward so that our situation will improve. I am not only talking about performance on the pitch, but perhaps also in our attitude before, during and after the game.

Birkirkara will take on Sliema Wanderers this Sunday where they will be willing to get back to winning ways. “This is not about one result, one game or one session; this is about getting the team into the right track, so that we can achieve the results we deserve. Of course the result is important, but I am more interested in the players' attitude and how they react to this game on the pitch - their motivation, their focus and above all their commitment. I expect therefore maximum concentration from all of us.

The Birkirkara Coach concluded with a message to the supporters. “First and foremost is that they support the team they love. This is not about supporting your team only when you win, but we need your support throughout the entire season. Like I expect our team to fight all the way, I expect our supporters to do the same not only during the game but also before and after.”
