Women's Super Cup: Birkirkara, Hibernians chase first honour

by Ayrton Galea - 21st September 2017

Birkirkara FC and Hibernians FC, the most two successful teams in Women's football, will set the ball rolling for Season 2017-2018 when they face each other in the BOV Women's Super Cup this evening.

Champions and Knock-Out Winners, Birkirkara will be hoping to become the holders of all three cups that Women's Football offers while Hibernians will be all-out to keep this cup home as both sides will be hoping to lay down an early marker in the first cup of the season.

Both teams will be under new guidance for this season as both teams opted for a change in their coach. Melania Bajada is now the new Birkirkara's Coach while Neil Zammit Cousin was appointed as new Hibernians' Coach.

Bajada's debut arrived in the UEFA Women's Champions League. Following two tough matches, in the third and last match of the group, the Stripes were just seconds away from registering the first draw in the Club's history, but a late goal condemned them to three defeats in three matches.

The Stripes' succeeded on keeping the core of players of last season's success and Ann-Marie Said and Tracy Teuma, two of last year's key-players, both renewed their stay with another season-loan. On the other hand, Birkirkara signed two foreigners namely Jelena Sakic and Elena Tramonti.

The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it will kick off at 19:00.

We would like to encourage all the supporters to come and support the Women's Team.

Come on the Stripes!
