Match Preview: Birkirkara FC vs. Qrendi FC

by Ayrton Galea - 17th February 2018

Birkirkara FC will be on the look out to book their place in the semi-final of the BOOST FA Trophy, when they will take on BOV First Division League side, Qrendi FC.

The Stripes have been in an impressive form by winning all their last ten competitive matches. In their last match, they defeated Sliema Wanderers FC with a 2-1 score to register their eighth consecutive victory in the BOV Premier League.

In the process of these ten consecutive victories, the Stripes assured themselves a place in the quarter-final, when they defeated Santa Lucia FC with a comfortable 5-0 score in the third round, while they needed an extra-time goal in the fourth round, to eliminate San Gwann FC with a 2-1 score.

However, these facts and figures have little effect in cup-ties and the FA Trophy have produced a number of surprising results in the last years with the inclusion of this year's edition that features two BOV First Division League sides in the quarter-final.

Opponents Qrendi FC, who plays in the BOV First Division League, surpassed the odds and reached the Quarter-Final stage for their first time in history. They defeated Kercem Ajax FC with a 4-3 score after the extra-time period, after they had eliminated Qormi FC with a 2-0 score in the third round.

Qrendi are occupying the eighth place in the BOV First Division League, just one point under Birkirkara's fourth-round opponents in the FA Trophy, San Gwann FC. In their last match, Qrendi defeated Sirens FC with a 1-0 score overleap them in the league standings.

The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and it will kick off at 14:00. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 12:45.

Come on the Stripes!
