Match Preview: Birkirkara FC vs. Balzan FC

by Ayrton Galea - 10th March 2018

Birkirkara FC will be seeking to keep their hopes of finishing in the top-three positions of the BOV Premier League alive and kicking, when in the match of the week, they will take on Balzan FC this afternoon.

With nine wins from the last ten league matches, the Stripes will be all out to keep strong to their third place position but their task is anything than easy, as they will take on the league's leaders who has been unbeaten for no less than nineteen matches.

The Stripes looked out of the equation of securing a top-three finish way back in November, where they were in the ninth place. However, the Stripes made a remarkable comeback by securing no less than thirty-four points in their last eleven matches.

On the other hand, Balzan has won just one match from the last four outings. Back to back draws against Valletta and Floriana were recovered by a comfortable victory against Lija Athletic, but they were held in another goal-less draw against Gzira United.

Despite their late results, Balzan are still the sole-leaders of the league, as they have one-point advantage of Valletta. The Stripes are third, five points adrift Balzan and four points under Valletta.

The Stripes have rapid-winger Carlos Alberto in a race against the time for today's match, after the Brazilian missed last weekend's match. On the other hand, Bojan Kaljevic will be suspended for Balzan FC.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it will kick off at 16:00. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 14:45.

Come on the Stripes!
