Henry Bonello was born on the 13 October 1988. The towering goalkeeper joined our Club in the 2017 January Transfer Market.
The towering goalkeeper is a product of Sliema Wanderers FC and he made his debut in the 2006-2007 season. During the 2008-2009 season, he won the FA Trophy with the Wanderers where he was the protagonist in the penalty shoot-out against Valletta FC.
He joined Vittoriosa FC on loan for one season in the 2009-2010 season but only made a single appearance, before returning with the Wanderers where he won a regular place for the following four season.
Henry joined Hibernians on loan for the 2014-2015 season. He won a regular place between the posts and played a key-role to help the Paolites win the BOV Premier League.
Following a brilliant spell with Hibernians, he joined Valletta FC on a permanent move from Sliema Wanderers FC. He enjoyed another brilliant season as he was the first-choice goalkeeper of the Citizens, who won the BOV Premier League.
Season 2016-2017
Henry started his second season with Valletta and he retained a regular place in the first few matches but he lost his place to Dziugas Barktus mid-way through the first-round of the BOV Premier League.
The Stripes were looking for a Maltese goalkeeper and the choice fell on the experienced Henry Bonello who signed a three-year contract with our Club on Friday, 6 January 2017.
Season 2017-2018
Birkirkara FC and Valletta FC reached an agreement on Friday, 16 June for the permanent move of Henry Bonello to re-join the Citizens. With our Club, Henry made seventeen appearances and registered six clean-sheets.
