Fatal second half sinks Birkirkara
by Matthaeus Grasso - 4th May 2009After a show of determined football in the first half, Birkirkara's show in the second interval deteroriated to the extent that our side finished the match on the receiving end of a 4-1 scoreline.
Ironically enough, 'The Stripes' took the lead after just fourteen minutes, thanks to a well-placed header by Kiril Mihaylov.
After continuing to be the better side on the pitch, our team conceded an unexpected goal in the game's fortieth minute through substitute Njongo Priso. Just two minutes later, Priso converted from the spot to make it 2-1.
Our team came out for the second half in a shocked way, and it was just a couple of minutes before Valletta scored their third goal after an unlucky deflection off Ronni Hartvig.
To round off a terrible forty-five minutes, ex-Birkirkara player Roderick Briffa scored a wonderful goal to make the final score 4-1 and put the pressure on 'The Stripes' who are now risking loosing third spot.
