Branko Nisevic expresses his views
by Ayrton Galea - 25th October 2010After the disappointing performance against Marsaxlokk, we asked our Assistant Coach, Branko Nisevic to explain what went wrong, and share his thoughts about the match.
Branko opened by saying, "Before the game we knew that Marsaxlokk is a very tough opponent. We knew very well about their strategy, to defend with 10 players behind the ball and to play on counter attack, and we were preparing for that. But this was one of those days, when nothing was functioning, especially in the defensive part. I believe that this will be a very good lesson for our team, and if we are clever enough, something like this shouldn't happen again.
When considering that our squad has only 4 days left to the next match, we asked Branko if they can still manage to lift the squad's spirit for the next match, and his reply should please every supporter. "Although this was a heavy defeat for us, we can't say we will try to recover for the next game. Instead I would say, 'we must bounce back as from the next game, no matter if it is in only 4 days'. We must, because we are the Champions and we are Birkirkara!"
Finally, Branko concluded with a message for you, the Birkirkara Supporters in this 'difficult' period. "I know that you, the supporters are disappointed with the last match, but I have to tell you that we (the players and technical staff) feel disappointed much more than you. When we win we celebrate together, when we lose we are sad together, so when we have to strike back we have to do it together. I hope all Birkirkara supporters will understand this moment and act in the best possible way for the team."
While thanking Branko for his time, we encourage all of you to stand united behind the team, and give your utmost support.
