Ryan Scicluna talks to birkirkarafc.com
by Ayrton Galea - 31st October 2010On Friday night, Birkirkara registered their 2nd draw in the Premier League when they ended a very entertaining match in a 1-1 draw against Hamrun Spartans. Ryan Scicluna who is only seventeen years of age, made his first appearance in the starting eleven, and we can say he had a great perforamcen. So we decided to ask him for his comments.
Ryan started by giving his comments about his overall impression of the match. "We were the best team in the field and we deserved the three points, but that is football!"
Then, Ryan continued on a more personal note, when he was asked about his feelings to be in the starting eleven for the reigning champions, Birkirkara. "It was an experience that I will never forget like all the other youngsters that will be playing for Birkirkara. At first, I was a little excited as expected, but thanks to the support of both my team mates and the Head Coach, I calmed down and it gave me the chance to play my game."
Ryan concluded by telling us how important the support is for him especially when playing at this very young age. "Personally, the support towards me and my team mates is one of the factors why I play football. The supporters must be the twelfth player as they encourage us to make that extra effort. It must not be there only when things are going well, but even when things are going wrong because at that time, your support is needed the most. I cannot complain about our supporters as their feedback gives me that extra edge so that next time I give an even greater effort."
