New Adidas kits for Birkirkara sponsored by Eurosport
by Ayrton Galea - 9th August 2012Today, Birkirkara FC were hosted for a press conference at the Eurosport outlet in Birkirkara.
Managing Director of Eurosport, Ms. Christina Peresso opened the conference by saying, "From the 2012-2013 season Eurosport will provide Birkirkara FC with Adidas kits, and it is a big honour for us to be able help this Club. I must say that Adidas treated us like any other international major team. In fact, they designed the yellow and red striped shirt specifically for Birkirkara FC and it is not available on the general catalogue. The company will sponsor all the Club's team which includes the nursery, the Under 19 Team, the Women's Team and of course, the Senior Team."
“The agreed sponsorship is for the next three seasons and hopefully it will be extended further. It was one of our dreams to be partners with Birkirkara FC, because they are a major club. We are proud to be their partners we will be producing merchandise designed for the Club's supporters while working with the Club hand in hand."
Ms. Peresso concluded, “Eurosport has now been established for 20 years and for this anniversary the company has invested in a rebranding exercise."
Club's President, Mr. Joe Zammit said, “It is my pleasure to announce that Eurosport will be the official sponsors of our Club's kit for the next three years. I have the pleasure to welcome the director of Eurosport Mrs. Cristina Peresso to this press conference.
“Although this is the first time that the team of Birkirkara will wear Eurosport branded kit in the Premier League, our club had already collaborated with Eurosport in the past and probably most of the Maltese public remembers the visit of AC Milan to Malta in 2007. Eurosport was also the official sponsor of our Nursery for a number of years.
“The sponsorship that is being announced today is holistic, in the sense that all our players, that is of the Senior Team, the Under 19 Team, the Women Team and the Nursery will be wearing the same kit kindly sponsored by Eurosport."
He continued by saying, “Our decision to work with Eurosport came almost naturally to us, not only because their biggest outlet is in Birkirkara, a few meters away from the club house, but also because Eurosport has built a reputable and respected brand-name along the years. The brands that this firm represents in Malta are a guarantee of quality worldwide.
"This sponsorship will be beneficial both for our Club and for the athletes that wear our red and yellow colours. I wish to say that in our discussions with the directors of Eurosport, they showed that they are willing to be of help not only to the athletes of our Club but also for the community of Birkirkara as a whole. In fact, this sponsorship is also of benefit for every Birkirkara supporter when buying from Eurosport.
“From our side, we will reciprocate this trust by encouraging all the members of the Club, and the rest of the supporters and residents of Birkirkara to give their support by using the services of Eurosport.
He concluded with, “I am convinced that this sponsorship will be of benefit both to our Club and to Eurosport and I hope that when this agreement expires, that we will instantly sign a new one. A heartfelt thank-you and on behalf of our Club and I hope that thanks to this collaboration, Eurosport will be closer to the heart of Birkirkara's community."
Then, Head Coach Mr. Paul Zammit said, “I'm happy that the Club's administration finds quality sponsors that they are ready to invest in the Club. The Maltese football needs investments like these and in the name of my technical staff I'm proud that we reached an agreement with Eurosport.
“We're in the final stage before the upcoming Premier League and we're in an advanced stage in our project that we began working on since last January. Today everyone has a clear view of where we would like to arrive. We are investing in youngsters. Regards our transfer market, we have a young, good squad but I do not exclude that in the coming days we will strengthen the team further.
“I must take this opportunity to thank all the players and technical staff members for their hard work which showed in the performances of this summer against FK Metalurg Skopje, where with a bit of luck, I believe that we could made a bigger honour for our Club and for Malta.
The Head Coach concluded, “There's a positive attitude in the squad and it's the only way forward as they are believing in what we can achieve. The attitude is a positive and winning one. I believe that Birkirkara are a top club and whoever wears that shirt must worthy of wearing it.
Next Saturday, the Women's Team will kick off their Women Champions League's commitments and the Head Coach, Mr. Johann Scicluna was asked for his comments. He said, “We feel we are prepared as we have preparing for these last two months. The UEFA Women Champions League tournament is a difficult task for us as we have already participated twice in it, and it was always tough. However, we are optimistic that this time round we will achieve better results. Finally, I would like to encourage all the supporters to come and support our team."
Following this comment, Mr. Joe Zammit said that Birkirkara FC's Women Team will be playing on the 11th, 13th and 16th August. All Birkirkara matches will be played at the Centenary Stadium and entrance for all matches of this tournament will be for free, however a donation will be collected in aid of the Community Chest Fund.
