Stripes to face Rainbows in FA Trophy
by Ayrton Galea - 1st December 2012Birkirkara will kick off their U*BET FA Trophy commitments this afternoon as in the third round match, the BoV Premier League leaders will face in form Tarxien Rainbows.
'The Stripes' received a major boost yesterday morning as they completed the registration of the latest acquisition Yosimar Hernandez and therefore the Spanish versatile player is available for today's knock out match.
Birkirkara might be on cloud number nine, as despite being held in a 2-2 draw against Balzan with the latter scoring a late equalizer, both Valletta and Hibernians were defeated in their last match and the yellow-reds remained as sole leaders of the BoV Premier League.
Tarxien's morale is nothing less than sky high. They earned four precious points in the last two matches as they held Valletta in a 1-1 draw and then went on to beat Sliema Wanderers with a 2-1 score to enable them to move to the fifth position. ‘The Rainbows' sent a clear message that they are going through a very good patch and that they can be a difficult opponent to any team.
In the last U*BET FA Trophy edition both sides failed to impress as both were eliminated at an early stage. Tarxien were surprisingly eliminated at the third round as they suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to the First Division side Pieta Hotspurs. Birkirkara did not fare much better as they were also eliminated at an early 4th round by Hamrun Spartans with a 3-2 score.
Birkirkara and Tarxien Rainbows already met in the first round of the Premier League with ‘The Stripes' registering a comfortable 4-1 victory but everyone believes that tomorrow will be a very different story for the Premier league leaders.
The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 14:00.
Come on the Stripes!
