Last minute controversial penalty sinks U19 Team
by Ayrton Galea - 20th October 2016A controversial last-minute penalty kick condemned Birkirkara FC Under-19's Team for the second defeat in the Youths League Section A as Mosta emerged as winners with a 3-2 score in a five-goal thriller.
Mosta surged ahead early in the match when the Mosta forward slotted the ball past the Birkirkara goalkeeper following a mix-up in the Birkirkara's rear-guard. The Stripes made a great reaction as they levelled the score thanks to Clint Zammit from the penalty spot to end the first half with a 1-1 score.
The Stripes went ahead for the first time in the second half thanks to a brilliant first-time effort by Gianluca Zammit off a cross by Andrew Abela. Mosta levelled the score five minutes from time as they stepped-up their level and went on taking home maximum points with a last-minute penalty converted.
