Birkirkara to face Valletta in Euro Cup

by Ayrton Galea - 23rd June 2011

Birkirkara will be involved in the second and final match of the Euro Cup as 'The Stripes' will face Champions Valletta in the decisive match which will determine the winners of this cup.

Valletta are coming from a 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Floriana. They bounced back from a goal down thanks to goals by Edmond Agius and Ryan Fenech to notch their first win of the season.

On the other hand, although Birkirkara dominated for long stretches, they failed to turn their chances into goal and they were held in a goal-less draw by Floriana.

After failing to make their debut last Monday, Brazilian players Antonio De Gomes and David Da Silva should be included with the squad this evening, and they will be making their first appearance with the yellow-red shirt. Former Hibernians defender Matt Clarke, and Argentine striker Victor Reina, who are both on a trial with the Club, are epected to be included with the squad as well.

This match will be another important step in preparing the squad for the UEFA Europa league games against KS Vllaznia of Albania.

Birkirkara will need to beat Valletta in order to win the cup. On the other hand, a draw would be suffice for the local Champions to be the winners of the first cup of this new season.

As already announced tickets will not be available from the ticket booths at the stadium as usual. They are available from the Birkirkara Football Club at Valley Road, and from the Infetti Training Grounds in Birkirkara.

Come On The Stripes!
