Birkirkara Under-19's extended their superb form in the Youths' League Section A. Another sensational performance last Friday saw them coming from a goal down to beat Hamrun Spartans 3-1. This win cemented their sole leadership of the league.

The Stripes went into this match with five points ahead of second placed Hibernians, and six over the same Spartans. The latter knew that they could not afford to leave the Sirens Stadium without the three points and their determined performance certainly reflected this need. However, this was not enough. The Stripes conceded a goal just before the half-time whistle, but they made an emphatic comeback to turn the result in their favour to register their seventh consecutive victory.

Birkirkara played a fine first half as they dominated for long stretches. However, against the run of play, it was Hamrun Spartans who took the lead right before half-time. From a corner-kick a powerful header went past Birkirkara goalkeeper, Justin Tonna.

With the Stripes one-nil down at half-time, the Under-19's Coach, Peter Pullicino, had to instill motivation in his players. Right from start of the second half, the Stripes made clear their intentions of getting back in the match.

The Stripes equalised thanks to a fine strike by Kurt Zammit following some good passing movement in midfield. McAllisther Clinch headed home from a corner-kick. Kurt Zammit sealed the issue with a superb volley, to net his tenth goal in just seven matches played.

Thanks to these three goals in the second-half, the Stripes went on to collect the three point, and they kept their five-point lead at the top of the table of the Youths' League Section A. The Stripes will be involved in the next match of the Youths' Knock-out next Thursday against Naxxar Lions.
