Birkirkara Under-19's team continued to confirm that they are the unstoppable side in the Youths' League Section A when they notched their eleventh straight win, when they came from behind to defeat Naxxar Lions with a score of 2-1.

The Stripes went out as the most aggressive side as they enjoyed large swaths of possession in the first thirty minutes, but Naxxar managed to surge ahead, against the run of the play. Birkirkara were quick to make a reaction but the Lions stood strong and kept their one-goal advantage till the half-time whistle.

Birkirkara's Coach, Mr. Peter Pullicino seemed to inspire his players in the half-time talk, as the Stripes went out on fire in the second forty-five minutes and they managed to turn the score in their favour in the first fifteen minutes.

The Stripes equalised thanks to a fine build up, with excellent passing movements and Antoine Borg rounded off by a calmly finishing past the Naxxar Lions goalkeeper, to make the score level.

Boosted by the equaliser, Birkirkara remained superior and they were quick to complete the comeback. Following a free-kick, Antoine Borg headed the ball into the path of Kurt Zammit, who was back in the fray after having recovered from injury. Zammit confirmed his striking skills as he tapped home from close-range, to put his name back on the score sheet, and put the Stripes in the lead.

When the Stripes were heading to another victory, five minutes from time, Naxxar were awarded a penalty. However, from the eleven metres spot, the Naxxar's player hit wide for the delight of the Birkirkara team, who remained strong and kept their one-goal advantage till the final whistle.
