Melania Bajada joins Birkirkara FC

by Ayrton Galea - 14th October 2014

Birkirkara FC Women's Team captured another key-signing in their bid to distinguish themselves as one of the main-contenders of the BOV Women's First Division League, as Melania Bajada joined our Club on a one-year loan from Gozo FC.

Melania Bajada was born on the 7 May 1989 and the twenty-five year old midfielder is mostly known for her vision and her presence in the midfield department. Melania, will be the third signing after Tara Attard and Hanna Tegelmann.

Melania told us “Birkirkara was always a team that I liked. I have always admired the team's character and how they manage to achieve results at the worst situations. They have a very good fighting spirit and I like that. I am really looking forward to this season as I am seeing it as a challenge and an experience where I can learn from”

Melania, who is the sister of the former Birkirkara player, Shaun Bajada, played for Gozo FC for the last five years and we asked her to comment about her previous experiences. “I played for Gozo for the last five years, and I have many memories that I will treasure forever. Also we had a league in Gozo and played for SK for 3 years and won the league twice with them.”

She added on, “Football is in my blood. My grandpa who left us few months ago, always helped in Sannat Lions club. My uncle also works hard for this club and my father played till the age of 39 with Sannat Lions. Also my brother, Shaun Bajada, who doesn't need any introduction, played for Birkirkara FC and with Malta National Team.”

Melania continued by saying “I think I'm settling quite fast because I felt very welcome both from the coach and players. I believe that we can challenge for the title, because the team has a good winning spirit, and the coach has great experience, and knows best to use this. But as everyone knows, many teams have improved therefore the league is going to be more challenging and interesting. So we have to put our feet on the ground and just work for it.”

All the paperwork has been registered with the MFA and she is available for tonight's match against Swieqi United FC. The match will be played at Zebbug Grounds and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

We would like to welcome Melania and wish her all the best of luck in her adventure with our Club.
