Women's Team seek to extend superb start

by Ayrton Galea - 18th November 2014

Birkirkara FC Women's Team has enjoyed a superb start to the BOV Women's First Division League by registering five wins in a row in their first opening five matches, and this evening they will be seeking to win their sixth win on the trot when they face Tarxien Rainbows FC.

Setting high ambitions right from the start, the holders of the Women's Knockout, have so far delivered a bold statement of the team's qualities, which distinguish them as the main contenders for the BOV Women's First Division League.

Coming from four wins, including an excellent 2-0 victory against present Champions and the other main title contenders, Hibernians, the Stripes were faced with a tricky test against Mgarr United, who had also enjoyed a very satisfactory start. However, thanks to yet another outstanding performance, the Stripes scored two goals inside the second half to remain the only team with maximum points from five matches.

Today's opponents, Tarxien Rainbows, are currently occupying the seventh place in the league standings, on the six points mark. They opened their league commitments with two victories over Swieqi United FC with a 5-0 score, and Sliema Wanderers FC with a 1-0. However, they suffered three defeats in their last three outings, as they were downed by Raiders FC, Kirkop United FC and Pembroke Athleta FC.

The match will be played at the Luxol Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
