Birkirkara FC and Coach Tedesco part ways

by Ivan Mizzi - 10th December 2015

Birkirkara FC has reached an agreement with the Club's Head Coach Mr Giovanni Tedesco to part ways.

Giovanni Tedesco joined our Club at the start of the 2015-2016 season, coming over from Floriana FC. He signed an agreement with our Club on the 1st June of 2015.

Coach Tedesco had a successful start with our Club, as he lead the Club's senior team to qualifying to the UEFA Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round after eliminating Ulysses of Armenia. In the 2nd Qualifying Round Birkirkara had to face the English Premier side of West Ham United. After a narrow defeat in Upton Park of 1-0, Birkirkara won the home match with a similar 1-0 score, only to be eliminated by a penalty shoot-out. This was followed by a roller-coaster ride in the Premier League, and the Club felt that the set targets were not being reached.

Mr Josef Mansueto will be for the time being managing the Senior Team.

We would like to thank Mr. Tedesco for his professionalism and dedicated service towards our Club, while wishing him all the best of luck in his future.
