Women's Team stay four points clear

Birkirkara FC Women's Team registered their seventh consecutive victory in the BOV Women's First Division League on Tuesday evening, when a brace by Stephania Farrugia and a goal each by Michela Felice and Alishia Sultana enabled them to defeat Raiders FC with a 4-0 score.

The Stripes made sure of going to next week's crucial match against Hibernians with a four-point lead when they scored three goals in the second half to build on first-half goal to add further gloss to the victory while kept their incredible run of eighth clean-sheets in a row.

Birkirkara broke the dead-lock ten minutes from half-time. Set-piece specialist Gabriella Zahra's cross inside the box found Captain Stephania Farrugia who hit a low strike from inside the box past the Raiders goalkeeper Jodie Attard.

Under-17's Team player Michela Felice made instant impact in the second-half, after she had replaced Sonia Schembri as she doubled Birkirkara's lead three minutes past the hour mark. The mobile forward did well to collect a well-taken long-ball by Gabriella Zahra and the youngster lobbed the ball with a fine header. This was the first goal of Felice with the senior team.

Two became three five minutes later. Raina Giusti, the assist leader of the team, delivered an accurate corner kick which saw Stephania Farrugia hitting a fine header past Attard. Thanks to this goal, Farrugia is the top scorer of the Women's First Division League.

The Stripes added further gloss on the victory thirteen minutes from-time with the fourth goal. Tracy Teuma picked-up Alishia Sultana, who dashed forward, dribbled her marker and hit a fine strike past goalkeeper Attard.

Coach Shawn Meilak handed the debut to summer signing goalkeeper Rosemarie Baldaccinho with our Club as she replaced Janice Xuereb ten minutes from.
