Birkirkara FC Women Under-17's Team secured a place in Section A for the second round of the Women Under-17's League with a 4-2 victory over Kirkop United FC.

Birkirkara surged ahead after just three minutes. Veronique Mifsud was quick to send a bold message of her shooting qualities as her long-distance shot surprised the goalkeeper to give the Stripes the perfect start with an early lead.

Kirkop made the score level on the twenty-sixth minute. Jasmine Grech had her shot blocked by Anthea Enriquez and the ball rolled towards the goal-line with the Birkirkara defender putting the ball into her own net in aim of clearing the ball.

The Stripes regained the lead just before the end of the first-half. Still with momentum following her gem of a goal with the Senior Team on Tuesday, Samantha Zarb tried her luck with another long-distance shot which surprised the goalkeeper who failed to hold, as the ball pounced in the net.

Birkirkara made them three just three minutes inside the second-half. Sarah Urpani played a short-corner to Zarb and the technical playmaker sent an inch-perfect in-swinging cross that saw team's top scorer Veronique Mifsud sliding full stretch to hit home from inside the box.

The Stripes made them four on the fifty-seventh minute. It was all owed to Veronique Mifsud who just yards after the half-way pitch unleashed a wonderful shot in the top corner of the net that gave the Kirkop goalkeeper, to complete her hat-trick.

Kirkop pulled one back three minutes on the hour mark, when the referee adjudicated that the Kirkop United player went down by a challenge of the Birkirkara defender and ordered the penalty. From the spot, Demi Gauci made no mistake.

Birkirkara will be involved in the next match in the Women Under-17's Knockout against Hamrun Spartans on Sunday, 19 February. The match will be played at the Kirkop Grounds and it will kick off at 10:50.
