Birkirkara FC Women Under-17's Team booked their place in the Knock-Out Semi-Final, when they produced an outstanding performance to defeat Mgarr United FC with a 2-1 score. The Stripes will now face Tarxien Rainbows in the semi-final.

The Stripes went out aggressive and they were denied by the post twice in space of three minutes. Captain Sarah Urpani saw her low shot denied by the foot of the post on the sixteenth minute, while two minutes later, Michela Felice's effort from inside the box hit the crossbar.

Birkirkara were awarded for their superiority as they broke the dead-lock on the twenty-first minute. Team's top scorer Veronique Mifsud showed great technical skills to dribble past her marker, before hitting a powerful shot smashed the post and went in.

The Stripes doubled their lead two minutes before half-time. It was an excellent team build-up play from the back, which then saw Nicole Zammit supplying an inch-perfect vertical cross towards Veronique Mifud, and the latter kept calm to drill a low shot home from inside the box.

Mgarr United started the second half more offensive and they got one back after fifteen minutes. On the fiftieth minute, Maia Debono rose high to hit a powerful header home, following a corner kick.

Despite Mgarr putting more players forward, the Stripes held strong for the victory to book their place in the semi-final. The match against Tarxien Rainbows will be played next Sunday, 21 May. The match will be played at the Kirkop Grounds and it will kick off at 09:00.
