Birkirkara FC Women's Team completed the first round of the BOV Women's League in style, when they scored four goals in the first half to defeat Kirkop United FC with a comfortable 4-0 score.

The Stripes were coming from a goal-less draw against Hibernians FC and they made sure of finishing in the top spot after the first round by producing a commanding performance that saw them securing all three points in the first half.

Birkirkara broke the dead-lock after fifteen minutes. Towering midfielder Gabriella Zahra surged forward from midfield and struck a fine low shot past goalkeeper Sharon Costantino.

League's top-scorer Raina Giusti doubled the Stripes' lead on the twenty-seventh minute when she placed the ball home from inside the box, following an accurate pass by Captain Stephania Farrugia.

The Stripes scored twice in space of two minutes before half-time, when first Sarah Urpani blasted home from a pass by Gabriella Zahra, while moments later Veronique Mifsud put her name on the scoring sheet with a close-range effort.
