Birkirkara FC Women's Team registered their second victory in two matches in the BOV Women's League, as a goal in each half by Sarah Urpani and Raina Giusti paved the way for a 2-0 victory over Swieqi United FC.

The Stripes dictated matters for long stretches, but they were short of goal scoring opportunities. However, they broke the dead-lock on the twenty-sixth minute thanks to a wonderful direct goal from a corner kick by youngster Sarah Urpani.

Birkirkara doubled the lead two minutes inside the second half. Willis hit a powerful strike from the edge of the box which was blocked by goalkeeper Mandy Caruana, but Raina Giusti was at the right place at the right time to hit home from close-range.

Both teams were denied by the woodwork as Swieqi United had a direct free-kick by Kate Galea hitting the crossbar and bouncing on the goal-line, while late in the match, defender Jelena Sakic saw her powerful header smashing against the upright.

BIRKIRKARA: Janice Xuereb, Rebecca Bajada (75' Yasmeen Vella), Stephania Farrugia, Jelena Sakic, Samantha Zarb (75' Cassie Camilleri), Ann-Marie Said, Sarah Urpani, Alishia Sultana, Ylenia Carabott, Raina Giusti (79' Miriana Conti), Kailey Willis (68' Kelly Agius Pace).

Scorers: 26' Sarah Urpani, 47' Raina Giusti (Birkirkara).
