Birkirkara FC will be facing Mgarr United FC in the Women's Knock-Out final for the second successive year after yesterday evening, they defeated Kirkop United FC in the other semi-final with a 4-0 score with all four goals arriving in the second half.

Fresh from being crowned champions for the third consecutive time, the Stripes dominated the match for long stretches but they had to wait for the second half to break the deadlock and secure their place in the final.

The Stripes surged ahead three minutes inside the second half. Referee Andrew James Sammut adjudicated a handball inside the box and ordered the penalty. From the spot, Captain Stephania Farrugia made no mistake.

Birkirkara doubled their lead six minutes later. Alishia Sultana delivering a fine cross in the path of Ylenia Carabott inside the box and the Birkirkara forward kept her cool to calmly lob the ball over the goalkeeper.

The Stripes made them just past the hour mark. Ylenia Carabott made a dazzling run before serving Raina Giusti inside the box and the rapid-winger placed the ball at the back of the net.

Birkirkara scored the fourth goal just before the full-time whistle. It was Carabott again involved into action when she sent an inch-perfect low cross and substitute Sarah Urpani hit home from close-range.

Birkirkara will meet league runners-up Mgarr United FC in the Women's Knock-Out final on Tuesday, 14 May. The match will be played at the Charles Abela Stadium and it kicks off at 20:00.
