Champions Birkirkara FC complete entire league unbeaten

Birkirkara FC were crowned champions of the BOV Women's League in style when they completed an entire league campaign unbeaten after defeating Mgarr United FC with a 4-1 score in the last match.

The Stripes won the league mathematically in their last match when they got the point they needed in their last match against Hibernians FC and the match against Mgarr United was just a formality.

However, with their unbeaten run on the line, the Stripes produced a five-star performance to finish the season in style and complete an entire league campaign unbeaten for the second time in the last three seasons.

The Stripes finished the league campaign with seven points clear over Mgarr United and eighteen over Hibernians. The Stripes scored 81 goals and conceded just six.

It was again Kailey Willis who stole the limelight by scoring another hat-trick. The towering forward at the age of just fifteen proved to be an asset for Melania Bajada's side by scoring nineteen goals in nineteen league matches.

Willis put Birkirkara ahead after fourteen minutes after anticipating the Mgarr United defender and kept her cool to drill a low shot past goalkeeper Rachelle Lynn Borg.

Mgarr United made the score level on the half-hour mark by Roxanne Micallef, but eight minutes later, Raina Giusti regained Birkirkara's lead with a low shot following a short clearance.

The Stripes added further gloss on their victory with another two goals by Willis when first she connected perfectly to an accurate cross by Alishia Sultana and then rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into an empty net.

Tanya Gravina, Manager at Bank of Valletta, and Ludovico Micallef, Vice President of the Malta Football Association, presented the BOV Women's League title to Birkirkara captain Stephania Farrugia.
