BOV Women's League - Swieqi United FC 0-5 Birkirkara FC

Five-star Birkirkara FC made a significant step towards winning another championship when at the top of the table clash of the BOV Women's League, they defeated Swieqi United FC with a comfortable 5-0 score.

The Stripes dominated the entire match as they looked too strong for their opponents. League's top-scorer Loza Abera and Esther Anu scored a brace each while Raina Giusti scored a wonderful goal to put the Stripes ahead.

Birkirkara surged ahead on the half-hour mark. A short clearance reached the path of Raina Giusti who controlled the ball and unleashed a powerful strike in the top right corner of the net past goalkeeper Vesna Vitanova.

The Stripes remained the best team on the pitch in the second half and doubled their lead on the hour mark. Tracy Teuma put Esther Anu through and the English rapid-winger hit a fine strike from the edge of the box past Vitanova.

Birkirkara increased their lead five minutes later. A free-kick by Gabriella Zahra was short-cleared and Loza Abera confirmed her potential as the most lethal forward with a shot that hit hard past Vitanova.

Three became four in the seventieth minute. Substitute Kailey Willis served Loza who had her shot blocked by Vitanova, but from the rebound, Esther Anu drilled a low shot home from inside the box.

The Stripes added further gloss on their impressive victory with the fifth goal ten minutes from time. Teuma was the provider again as she put Loza through and the league's top scorer rounded the Swieqi goalkeeper before putting the ball into the net.
