Jorge Santos Silva originally hails from Brazil and he joined Birkirkara FC in the 2012 January Transfer Market.
A product of the Brazilian's side Grêmio, he played for Daegu in South Korea. After moving back to Brazil he joined Rio Claro F.C. Then in the beginning of the 2009-2010 season the fast winger joined the Maltese Club Vittoriosa Stars.
With Vittoriosa, he was one of the most dangerous strikers in the Premier League. Thanks to his speed and technique he made it difficult for every defence. In the last month of 2010, in December, Jorge was voted as the BOV player of the month.
Despite Vittoriosa being relegated to the First Division, Jorge was one of the best foreigners in this season. In the 24 matches played in this season he managed to score seven goals.
As one could expect, in the summer of 2011 Jorge was attracting the interest of several Clubs but it was Sliema Wanderers who managed to make this important acquisition. However in January 2012, Jorge was released by Sliema on his request. With Sliema Wanderers, he played 14 matches and scored three goals.
With Birkirkara searching to strengthen their attacking department, they could not afford to lose this opportunity. On the 12 January 2012 he signed a contract until the end of the 2011-2012 season.
In his spell with our Club, Jorge proved to be the best acquisition in the January Transfer Market as his runs on the wing were always dangerous for any defence, besides scoring important goals and providing fine passes.
In the Premier League, Jorge made 14 appearances: began 13 matches and was included as a substitute once. He managed to score no less than eight goals while he was voted once as the man of the match.
Following these impressive performances, the committee offered Jorge Santos Silva another one year contract which he signed on Tuesday, 15 May 2012.
