Edward Herrera was born on the 14 November 1986 and he joined our Club in the 2012 Summer Transfer Market.

Edward is a Melita FC product and he had his First Team experience playing for them. He had three successful years, from 2003 till 2006 where he made 52 appearances and scored 20 goals. Following his spell with Melita, Edward moved to Pieta Hotspurs in 2006 where he spent two years, which is till 2008. With Pieta, he made 43 appearances and scored five goals.

He began to catch the eye of the top clubs of the Premier League especially after his performances with the Under 19 and Under 21 National Teams, Hibernians managed to sign the promising youngsters. With Hibernians, Edward peaked in his four year spell. His first season with Hibernians, that is 2008-2009, was a memorable one as Hibernians won their 10th Premier League title in their history.

In the next season, Edward achieved another memorable moment, as this time, Edward made his debut with the Senior National Team. On the 18 November 2009 he was included as a substitute in the 4-1 home friendly defeat against Bulgaria. In this season, Hibernians who were defending their Premier League title ended in the 6th place.

The 2010-2011 season was an unexpected nightmare for Hibernians as they ended in the 9th place but they were not relegated as the Malta Football Association applied changes for the upcoming season, and only the team in the 10th place was relegated. In this season, Herrera scored six goals.

In the 2012-2013 season, Birkirkara were lacking from a right back and the choice immediately fell on the international defender Edward Herrera. He signed a five year contract on Thursday, 30 August 2012.

He made his debut on the 31 August, where Birkirkara defeated Rabat Ajax with a 2-0 score. Herrera was included as a substitute on the 63rd minute. Edward Herrera’s first season with our Club was a superb one. The speedy right back had excellent performances which made him emerge as one of the Stripes' most essential players that led to Birkirkara's fourth Championship in their history.

Herrera will cherish the 2013-2014 season for the superb goal that he scored on the 22 December when his sensational volley enabled Birkirkara to defeat Hibernians with a 2-1 score after he had scored the opening goal. His goal was given highlight in foreign media and it was voted as the best goal of the season.

It was a season to forget for Herrera the 2015-2016 one, as a long-term injury ruled him out for the entire season, bar his return in the final match of the season when he was included as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat against Sliema Wanderers FC in the semi-final of the FA Trophy.

Edward had a much better season in Season 2016-2017, as he was a regular choice for the Stripes. He made twenty-one appearances, in which he started fourteen matches and scored five goals.
