Jonathan Maciel is Brazilian and he was born on the 25 May 1988. The Brazilian defender joined our Club in the 2013 Summer Transfer Market.

Jonathan began his career in 2001 with Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama, known simply as Vasco, a Brazilian football team based in the town of Rio De Janeiro where he spent no less than eight successful years.

Following his eight-year spell with Vasco, Maciel joined another Brazilian football team, Sports Railway in the 2009-2010 season. In 2010-2011 season, he moved to another Brazilian side, America RJ.

For the 2011-2012 season, Maciel moved for the first time from Brazil as he went to Oman and joined Muscat Club.

Despite ending the 2012-2013 Premier League campaign as the best defence in the league, the Stripes' technical staff, still opted to search for new defenders for the following season.

Following a few-days trial, the choice fell on the Brazilian defender Jonathan Maciel who signed a one-year deal with our Club on Wednesday, 10 July 2013. Before signing the one year contract, Maciel made two unofficial appearances with our Club, as he took part in two friendly matches against Khazar Lankaran and Vittoriosa respectively.

Jonathan made his official debut with our Club on the 24 July 2013, when he was included on the 77 minute as a substitute in the second leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League against NK Maribor, where the Slovenian Champions defeated the Stripes with a 2-0 score.

However, Jonathan's spell with our Club was a short one as the Brazilian was released on Thursday, 15 August 2013. The decision to part ways was agreed upon amicably and mutually, to serve the interest of both parties.
