Daniel Zerafa was born on 8 April 1994, and he joined our Club in the 2013 Summer Transfer Market.

Youth Career

Daniel began playing football at a young age at the Hamrun Spartans Youth Nursery.

From these early days of his career, the future of Zerafa always looked bright. The midfield skills of the youngster quickly began to catch the eye of many. However, despite interest from other clubs, Zerafa opted to stay with Hamrun.

Having noticed Zerafa's continuous improvement, the technical staff of Hamrun Spartans felt that Daniel was ready to make it with the senior squad.

Season 2010-2011

The 2010-2011 season will always be a memorable one for Daniel. This season served to be Daniel's first step in the Maltese top division as he made his debut in the BOV Premier League.

His debut arrived on the 17 April 2011 in the match between Hamrun Spartans and, incidentally, Birkirkara and they shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Daniel was included as a substitute on the 75th minute.

Following this debut, Zerafa was included in another two matches, and every time he was utilised as a substitute.

During this season, Daniel also took part in the UEFA Under-17 Championship where he played three matches and even managed to put his name on the scoring sheet. On the 30 September, Malta held Albania in a 1-1 draw, with the Maltese goal being scored by the promising youngster on the 19th minute.

Season 2011-2012

Following the 2010-2011 season, where Daniel was given the chance to prove his skills in the Premier League division, the promising youngster continued to earn trust and he was given more playing time where he continued to leave a good impression.

In fact, in this season, Daniel made nineteen appearances in the Premier League, in which he began nine matches while he was included as a substitute in ten matches.

Season 2012-2013

The 2012-2013 season was a season of two tales. For Hamrun Spartans, it was a season to forget as the Spartans had a horrible season and they were relegated to the BOV First Division after ending in the 11th place of the BOV Premier League.

However, the promising youngster had an excellent season with the Spartans as the versatile player, who was utilised both in the defence and midfield department, established himself as a regular choice in the first eleven selection.

In the Premier League campaign, Daniel made 25 appearances and he began twenty matches while he was included as a substitute five times. Also, Zerafa managed to put his name on the scoring sheet for the first time ever with the senior team during this league campaign. Daniel scored Hamrun's first goal in the trashing 8-2 defeat against Valletta in a match which was played on the 24 September.

During this season Daniel formed part of the Under 19 National squad that competed in the UEFA Under-19 Championship in October. Zerafa took part in the three matches. In the third game, where Malta faced San Marino, Daniel was amongst the scorers as he netted the first goal in the 4-0 victory that the Maltese side registered over San Marino.

Season 2013-2014

During the 2013 Summer Transfer Window, Birkirkara continued to strengthen further their squad, that had been crowned champions for the fourth time in their history in the previous season.The Stripes were looking for a promising youngster, specifically in the midfield department in order to give fresh options to Head Coach, Mr. Paul Zammit.

Just two days from the end of the Summer Transfer Window, Birkirkara reached an agreement with Hamrun Spartans over the permanent transfer of Daniel Zerafa, and he joined the Maltese Champions. Daniel signed a five-year contract on Thursday, 29 August.

Daniel's 2013-2014 season continued to be a bright one as just one day later, he was called up with the Under 21 National squad for the UEFA Under-21 Championship.

He made his debut with our Club in the narrow 1-0 victory over Valletta, played on the 29 September 2013. He was included as a substitute on the 78th minute when he replaced Nigerian forward Frank Temile.

His first season with our Club was quite a satisfactory one. The promising youngster made thirteen appearances in the BOV Premier League, in which he started three matches while he was included as a substitute in ten matches. He netted two goals and he was voted once as the BOV Player of the Match.

Season 2014-2015

In the 2014-2015 season, Daniel sought for more playing time and he was loaned to the BOV First Division Side, St. Georges FC. With St. Georges, Daniel was a regular first-eleven choice and he enjoyed a satisfactory season.
