Nassir Macchi is a Dutch forward and he was born on the 9 September 1985. He joined our Club in the 2015 January Transfer Market.

Nassir, coming from the ranks of Utrecht FC, is widely regarded as a very prolific striker. Maachi’s CV features spells with a clutch of Dutch clubs, including Utrecht, Dordrecth and PEC Zwolle as well as a two-year stint with AEK Larnaca in Cyprus where he played until May of 2014.

Youth Career

In his teen-age years, Nassir always showed that he could make it and that there was a bright future for the Dutch forward. Utrecht introduced him to the First Division of Netherlands.

He was introduced in the 2005-2006 season where he made ten appearances and scored three goals at the age of twenty. In the following season, he played three matches, before moving to another Club.

Season 2007-2008

Nassir sought a new adventure, and aged twenty-two year he moved to Dordrecht from Utrecht. With Dordrecht, he enjoyed a very positive season as he was a regular choice.During this season, he made thirty-eighth appearances and scored eleven goals.

Season 2008-2009

In the 2008 Summer Transfer Market, Nassir left Dordrecht and he joined another Dutch side, Cambuur. In his first season with the new club, Nassir won a regular place. He made forty appearances in this season, thirty-four in the league and another six in the play-offs, and he netted eight goals.

Season 2009-2010

Season 2009-2010 was a very positive season for both Nassir and Cambuur. Cambuur ended as runners-up in the First Division League of Netherlands and Nassir finished as the second best top-scorer of the Club with sixteen goals.

In this season, he made thirty-five appearances, out of which two were were in the play-offs. He started thirty matches while he was included as a substitute five times. Once again, Maachi confirmed his skills in front of goal when he netted sixteen goals.

Season 2010-2011

He started the 2010-2011 season with Cambuur and in the first phase of the season with he made nineteen appearances and scored three goals but in the beginning of February, he was loaned out to PEC Zwolle.

This move brought to an end his two and a half-season spell with Cambuur, where he made no less than ninety-four appearances, out of which he started eighty four matches while he was included as a substitute ten times. In this period he scored twenty-seven goals, with the highlight of his spell being the 2009-2010 season where he ended as the Club’s second best top scorer with eighteen goals, when Cambuur finished in the second place.

In the first three months with his new Club, PEC Zwolle, he played thirteen matches and scored one goal.

Season 2011-2012

In his second year with PEC Zwolle, Nassir enjoyed one of his best seasons throughout his career. PEC Zwolle were crowned Champions of the First Division of Netherlands, which is the second highest division in the country. For the Dutch forward it was a memorable year as he was the Club’s best scorer and the second league best scorer with eighteen goals, just two less than the league’s top scorer.

Maachi was once again a regular choice, missing just one match from the thirty-four matches of the First Division League. He made thirty-three appearances, in which he started thirty-two matches while he was included as a substitute once. He netted no less than eighteen goals, the most goals scored in his career.

Season 2012-2013

For the first time in his football career, Nassir moved outside his native country of Holland, where he joined the Cypriots giants, AEK Larnaca on loan from Zwolle. His first season with the Cypriot Club was a one to remember as the Dutch forward did not disappoint.

He was a first-team regular choice and he made twenty-six appearances, in which he started twenty-three matches while he was included as a substitute in the other three. He scored eleven goals in the league to finish as the fourth top scorer in the league, three goals less than the league’s top scorer.

Season 2013-2014

Following an excellent first season with AEK Larnaca, Nassir moved to the Cypriot Club on a permanent transfer where enjoyed another fine season, despite having less playing time. He made seventeen appearances in which eleven where from the start while he was included a s substitute six times.

Season 2014-2015

Season 2014-2015 had a new adventure in store for the Dutch forward as in the 2011 January Transfer Market, he joined Birkirkara FC.

Following re-shuffling their attacking department in summer, the Stripes got a new host of forward foreigners which they a very good impression. However, they suffered a set-back when one of their forwards, Ellinton Morais, which at that time was the Club’s top scorer, suffered a long-term injury and the choice to substitute him fell on Nassir.

He arrived in Malta on Tuesday, 13 January and immediately left a very good impression and he was offered a contract. He signed the contract with our Club two days later on Thursday, 15 January 2015.

The Dutch striker made his debut with our Club on Sunday, 18 January 2015 in the 2-1 victory over Floriana FC. He was included as a substitute on the eighty-third minute when he replaced Eliandro Gonzaga.
