Christian Bubalovic is an Austrian central-defender who was born on 9 August 1991.The towering 191cm central defender, who also holds Croatian citizenship, is well-known for his heading ability, while he is best described as a steady and strong defender. He joined our Club in the 2016 January Transfer Market.
Christian played with Admira FC of Austria in his youth career before moving to Germany to continue his youth career with Energie Cottbus FC and he also made two appearances with Austria Under-19’s National Team, . With the latter, he was given his first professional contract and spent two season where made forty-eighth appearances and scored two goals.
In the 2012-2013 season, he moved to Slovenia and joined FK Rudar. In his first season with the Slovenian Club, he made twenty-nine appearances and scored two goals. In the following season, he stayed with Rudar where he made twenty-one appearances and scored one goal.
Bubalovic then signed for the Austrian Club, Kapfenberger SV in the Austrian First League, which is the second tier of Austrian’s football. He joined this Club in the 2014-2015 season where he made thirty-two appearances and scored three goals.
Christian started his second season with Kapfenberger SV and he remained one of the most regular players. He played all the ninety minutes in eighteen out of the team’s nineteen matches till the end of December 2015, and he only missed one game due to suspension after collecting four yellow cards.
With the Stripes revamping their squad and seeking to strengthen their defence department, the choice fell on Bubalovic and he signed one and a half year contract with our Club on Monday, 18 January 2016.
He made his debut in the 2-0 victory over Sliema Wanderers FC in the BOV Premier League on Saturday, 23 January. He started the match and had a satisfactory performance before he was substituted fifteen minutes from the end. Bubalovic’s first season with our Club was a very positive one where he made fifteen appearances and scored one goal.
Had enjoyed a very satisfactory season with our Club, after joining in the January Transfer Market, Christian signed a new one-year contract with our Club on Friday, 10 June 2016.
