Omar Borg was born on 12 February 1981 and he is a Naxxar Lions FC product.

After a highly disappointing 2006-2007 season, the Birkirkara FC committee released the Polish goalkeeper Andrzej Bledzewski and they began to search for a new goalkeeper.

Few days after the opening of the Summer Transfer Market, Omar Borg agreed terms with the Club and he signed a five year contract.

In the 2007-2008 season, Omar Borg was the regular goalkeeper for Birkirkara and he made 19 appearances. Although Omar was not utilised in the Semi Final and in the final of the U*BET FA Trophy, he won the first main honour with ‘The Stripes' on the 24th May 2008. On the day Birkirkara defeated Hamrun Spartans with a dramatic goal by Michael Galea which handed Birkirkara the cup for the fourth time.

In the following season, Omar was once again the regular goalkeeper for ‘The Stripes' and this time he had18 appearances. In the first competition of the season, Omar won his second honour with Birkirkara as ‘The Stripes' started the 2008-2009 season by winning the Euro Challenge Cup.

In the 2009-2010 season, Omar only had three appearances. He started the match twice and he was included as a substitute once time after Spanish goalkeeper Jorge Mora won a regular place in the Birkirkara squad.

However, in this season Birkirkara managed to win the Premier League and on 5 May, Omar had the joy of lifting the Premier League cup for the first time ever in his life.

In the Summer Transfer Market of 2010 the Club's committee and Omar agreed that he will be loaned out to another club. This was decided so that he would have more opportunity to play regularly instead of being the second goalkeeper of the Club. Once Birkirkara ended their Champions League commitments, Omar joined Hamrun Spartans.

It was not any easy task for Omar to earn his regular place and in fact his first appearance with ‘The Spartans' was in the first round of the U*BET FA Trophy against Melita which was played on 12 November. Hamrun emerged as winners with a comfortable 5-0 score.

From then onwards, Hamrun's head coach Mr. Steve D'Amato believed in Omar Borg's skills and in the Premier League he made no less than 19 appearances. This was besides the other match in the U*BET FA Trophy, which as said earlier, was the first match for Omar with Hamrun Spartans. One should mention the fact that in the Premier League he managed to save no less than four penalties, three of which were against Birkirkara while the other one was against Valletta.

Omar returned to Birkirkara for the 2011-12 season and everyone in the Birkirkara FC clan is confident about Omar's skills after the wonderful season he had with ‘The Spartans'.
