Sylvano Comvalius is Dutch and he was born on 10 August, 1987. He is considered by many as one of the best foreign strikers that ever played with Birkirkara FC.

Sylvano was brought to Malta by Hamrun Spartans in the 2008-2009 season. From his very first appearance he showed his class as a striker. His perfect shift of play, technique and finishing promoted him as one of the best foreign strikers to play in Malta.

With Hamrun Spartans he made 12 appearances and he managed to score nine goals. In this season, he was voted as the BoV Player of the Month for March 2009.

In the 2009 Summer Transfer Window, Birkirkara released their two Bulgarian strikers namely Krasen Valkov and Kiril Dimitar Mihaylov and the Birkirkara FC committee begin the search to find their suitable replacement. They decided that the most suitable striker for the next season would be Sylvano Comvalius. He agreed terms with the Club and signed a 2 year contract in June 2009.

His first few months with Birkirkara were not as satisfactory as one expected. Sylvano failed to reach the previous season's level and in some matches he was even left on the bench, and many begin to think that signing Comvalius was not the best decision.

However, in every match Sylvano started to improve, and he ended being the top scorer for the club in the 2009-2010 besides the very good assists he gave thanks to his precise crosses. In this season he made 28 appearances and he started 25 matches while he was included as a substitute on three occasions, and scored 15 goals. He was voted as Bov Player of the Match twice.

On the 30th April Birkirkara were crowned the new champion of Malta as ‘The Stripes defeated Tarxien Rainbows with a solitary goal by Shaun Bajada. Few days later, on Wednesday, 5 May, 2010 Birkirkara played their last league match and Sylvano found the net once again before ‘The Stripes' were presented with the deserved cup.

After Sylvano missed the Champions League matches, the Birkirkara FC committee decided to release Comvalius in the middle of September.
