Rodrigo Frank Pereira was born on the 28 February 1981.The former Fist Vienna central defender, joined Birkirkara FC in July 2011.

Rodrigo is a Brazilian, but he also has Italian citizenship. He started his football career in Brazil where he was playing for Guarani FC. After he played for Santos FC and Portuguesa de Desportos. Rodrigo then decided to leave Brazil and he started his new adventure in Austria where he joined Bad Aussee. After this experience he joined another Austrian team , Waidhofen FC.

On the 25 June 2010, Rodrigo joined another Austrian team, First Vienna for the 2010-2011 season where he had a very successful spell. With First Vienna, Rodrigo was the captain of the team and he made 17 appearances as he started 16 matches and was included as a substitute once.

Season 2011-2012

After releasing Serb defender Nikola Vukanac, international defender Andrei Agius' loan spell expired, and Patrick Borg being loaned out to Marsaxlokk, Birkirkara were left with a huge gap in the defence.

Birkirkara brought over several foreign players on trial, however none of them impressed much until Rodrigo arrived. His experience, solid defending and determination definitely establish him as skilled defender. Birkirkara FC could not lose this golden opportunity to sign Rodrigo .

He agreed terms and signed a one year contract on Thursday 28 July. He made his debut as a Birkirkara FC registered player one day later, on Friday 29 July, in the comfortable win registered over Vittoriosa with a 5-1 score. Rodrigo played all the 90 minutes and once again had a very solid performance.

Rodrigo's 2011-2012 season could be considered as a positive one especially after Nikola Vukanac joined our Club and with him, Rodrigo was very solid and concentrated at the back.

In the Premier League, Rodrigo made 27 appearances, all starting from the beginning and he managed to score three goals. His goals were scored on the 16 September 2011 in the 2-2 draw against Mqabba , his second goal was scored thanks to a direct freekick on the 30 September 2011 giving ‘The Stripes' a narrow 2-1 win over Marsaxlokk and the third goal arrived in the comfortable 5-0 win over Balzan on the 9 April when he converted a penalty.

Season 2012-2013

After playing in the Euro Cup, Europa League and AME Cup matches, a mutual agreement by Birkirkara FC and Rodrigo was reached to go separate ways.

However, it was not long before the Brazilian defender rejoined our Club, as he signed a one year contract on the 22 November and made his first appearance on the 23 November in the 2-2 draw against Balzan Youths.

Rodrigo's arrival back with the squad increased essentially the rear-guard's strength, as the experienced defender also played an important role with the Stripes to clinch their fourth championship.

In this season, Pereira made 23 appearances, in which he started nineteen matches while he was included as a substitute in four. Rodrigo managed to find the net once in the Premier League and was voted as the man of the match in the memorable league-decider match of the 11 May 2013 between Birkirkara and Hibernians where the Stripes defeated Hibernians with a 3-1 score to clinch the title in a dramatic way.
