Alan Tabone\'s debut was on 1 September 1999 in the match against Zurrieq with a comfortable win of 4-1, in the season where 'The Stripes' were crowned Champions for the first time exactly on the 50th year anniversary of the club.
For the 2001-2002 season he was loaned out to Lija Athletics and his debut match was lost against Msida St. Joseph.
With Lija, Alan spent two successful seasons until he was loaned once again, this time to Msida SJ.
With the Saints he played eight matches and managed to score two goals.
Alan was loaned several times to gain experience and to achieve more fitness from playing rather than being on the bench, but he was always patient and waited until his time came along to help the team with his skills.
In these past two seasons, Alan produced intelligent passes which made it easy for the strikers to score, and superb free kicks which can beat any goalkeeper.
In the memorable 2009-2010 season for Birkirkara where they were crowned champions for the third time, Alan made 25 appearances in the Premier League, in which he began 7 and was included as substitute no less than eighteen times. On Wednesday, 5 May, Birkirkara were presented with the deserved Premier League title.
Like every Maltese player forming part of the squad in this season, he extended his contract with Birkirkara as he agreed terms on another one year deal.
The 2010-2011 season wasn’t very satisfactory both for Birkirkara and for Alan, as the latter failed to find a regular place following injury which kept him out of the pitch for several weeks. After mid-January, he made five appearances and scored two goals, in which he began twice and was included as a substitute three times. On Friday 21 January, he moved to Vittoriosa Stars.
Following a successful spell with Vittoriosa, Alan returned with Birkirkara signing a two year contract. The 2011-2012 season was much better for Tabone as he found more space in the First Team.
In the Premier League he made 18 appearances, in which he began seven and was included as a substitute eleven times. In this competition he was also voted the man of the match twice and managed to score two goals. These two goals were scored in the easy 4-1 win over Sliema Wanderers played on the 6 May 2012.
