Despite being 2-0 up until the 70th minute, somehow Birkirkara managed to throw-away this lead and finish the match on the loosing end of a five-goal thriller.

Jonathan Caruana headed the ball in his own net after seven minutes, to put Birkirkara ahead. Birkirkara kept on being the better side, and kept this tiny lead till the end of the first half.

Another early second-half goal scored by Kiril Mikhaylov, made everyone in the stadium think that the match was over, but it wasn't to be.

On the 70th minute mark, Ben Camilleri made it 2-1. Four minutes later, Hibernians had a player sent-off, but Birkirkara failed to materialize on this golden opportunity, instead Hibernians made the scores level on seventy-five minutes through Terrence Scerri. The same player notched the winner for Hibs just two minutes from the end to make the score 2-3.

The full-time whistle found 'The Stripes' fans calling on their players for better performances in what's left of the season and especially in the U*Bet FA Trophy Semi-Final.

With this negative result, Birkirkara are now nine points behind the same Hibernians and five behind Valletta, with the Citizens however having a game in hand.
