Omar Borg joins Hamrun Spartans

by Ivan Mizzi - 15th July 2010

The 29 year old goalkeeper, Omar Borg will be joining Hamrun Spartans for a one year loan, as soon as Birkirkara FC conclude their commitments in the second leg of the second qualification round.

Omar had joined our club in the first days of the transfer market 2007 and he had agreed to sign a five year contract.

Although not being number one choice as a goalkeeper for the majority of the past season, his contribution to the Club was great. Omar won three major honours with the 'Stripes'. The first was the U*Bet FA Trophy in May 2008 where our team managed to beat Hamrun with a 2-1 score line. This was followed by the Euro Challenge Cup in July 2008 . The last honour was won on the 5th May 2010 when our team was crowned with the Bov Premier League title.

Birkirkara FC would like to thank Omar for his service with the Club, and wish him success in his new adventure.
